meeting of IAEA experts with representatives of Fukushima prefecture

The 15th Mission –meeting of IAEA experts with representatives of Fukushima prefecture, dedicated to the issues, related to long-term radiation monitoring of the territory of Fukushima prefecture, development and application of countermeasures took place in Japan (Fukushima city) between February 2nd and 7th. Andrey Panitskiy, head of the Department for Comprehensive Ecosystems Research of the branch «Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology» of the RSE «National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan» attended the meeting as an IAEA expert. In his presentation, A. Panitskiy shared his experience in performing Comprehensive radioecological survey of Semipalatinsk Test Site (STS) and the adjacent territory, he spoke about the monitoring system arranged at the STS and rehabilitation measures performed. Participants of the meeting had an opportunity to familiarize themselves with results of radioecological studies at the territory of Fukushima prefecture. In course of discussions, representatives of different countries made comments and proposals on further development of radiological monitoring, development and application of countermeasures.
