Training course «Preparedness for Nuclear and Radiological Accidents»

As a part of cooperation between the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NNC RK) and Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), the ninth annual training course «Preparedness for Nuclear and Radiological Accidents» was conducted online on the 22, 24-26 of February, 2021. The aim of the course was to make the attendees have a basic idea of measures of timely and effective response in case of an accident, and also to improve skills and to teach the techniques of population protection. This training course covered the following practical issues: regaining control over the accident situation; prevention and mitigation of negative consequences for people and environment; prevention of excessive radiation exposure of the employees, involved into remediation. Three experts from Japan (employees of the personnel training center of the JAEA) and ten instructors from the Republic Kazakhstan (NNC RK) took part in the course and forty four attendees from among the NNC RK employees took part in the course. Experts and instructors gave eighteen lectures. The NNC RK conducts this course every year since 2012. For eight years 128 employees of the NNC RK attended the course.
