A special subdivision was established within the National Nuclear Center of RK

For the purpose of researches aimed at assessment of radiological state of underground water at the Semipalatinsk Test Site (the STS), a special subdivision was established in the 2010 within the National Nuclear Center of RK. This subdivision was composed of qualified specialists of the ISRE NNC RK – geologists, hydrogeologists, drill rig operators. Technical support of the subdivision allows to drill boreholes to the depth of up to 100 m, different in diameter, sample ground water and cores, and to determine hydrogeological and geological characteristics in the area of research. At the 5^th of June, 2020 as a part of comprehensive research, the branch IRSE of the NNC RK have started works in the area of the «Experimental Field» test site and in the eastern part of the STS territory.
