XXIV Sayenko International Youth Scientific School “Modern Issues in Radiobiology”

May 19 through 23, 2025, the XXIV Sayenko International Youth Scientific School “Modern Issues in Radiobiology” was held in Obninsk city, Russian Federation, at the Tsyba Medical Radiological Scientific Center – a branch of the FSBI “NMRC for Radiology” of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The event was dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the birth of N. Timofeev-Resovsky. Young environmental specialists Ye. Kornilayev and S. Smirnov took part in the event from the branch “IRSE” of the NNC RK. The event covered modern research trends in radiobiology, radiation genetics, molecular and cell biology, oncology, immunology, and radiation ecology. The program included lectures on radioecological monitoring, polygenic risk indices, space radiobiology, as well as mathematical, physical, and biological aspects of target theory in radiobiology. Other topics included DNA repair protein foci, molecular mechanisms of cell death, and radionuclide behavior in the biosphere, etc. Participation in the school provided an opportunity to deepen professional knowledge, familiarize with modern approaches and techniques in radiobiology and radioecology, establish scientific contacts, and present the work and ongoing research of the branch “IRSE” of the NNC RK on an international platform.
