Tours of the exhibition hall of the STS history

On the threshold of the International Day of Antinuclear Test Actions, the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan is inviting everybody to visit the exhibition hall of the Semipalatinsk Test Site history on August 24, 2023.

The tour schedule is as follows: from 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 o’clock – in Kazakh and Russian, and 2.30 to 4.30 p.m. – in English.

Those who wish to visit the hall have to submit an application before August 18, 2023 stating their full names, the time of a visit and attach copies of their identity documents (to obtain a permit to the premises of the National Nuclear Center).

Background. The exhibition hall of the Semipalatinsk Test Site history was founded in 1972 on the premises of the Pilot and Scientific Unit of the test site.

Exhibits provide a complete description of three major test locations at the Semipalatinsk Test Site: the ‘Experimental Field’, ‘Degelen’ and ‘Balapan’ sites, an opportunity to learn about the origin and development of the test site, features of nuclear testing and nuclear effects, about the current radiological situation in the STS area as well as life and activities of an outstanding experimental physicist Igor V.
