I International youth conference ‘Genetic and radiation technologies in the agriculture’

October 18 through 21, 2022 I International youth conference ‘Genetic and radiation technologies in the agriculture’ was hosted by the federal budget scientific institution ‘All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Radiology and Agroecology’ (FSBSI VNIIRAE) in Obninsk c., the Russian Federation. The conference was attended by staff members of the branch ‘Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology’ of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, L. Timonova and P. Krivitsky. Staff members presented their papers in the section ‘Fundamental and Applied Aspects of Radioecology and Agroecology’ on research into the contamination of environmental compartments with tritium at the Semipalatinsk Test Site and a comparative characteristics of tritium levels at various testing sites. 5 main lines of research were addressed at the conference: genome and post-genome technologies in the agriculture; genetic modification and marker-associated selection in the agriculture; radiobiological research in the agriculture; radiation technologies in the agriculture; fundamental and applied aspects of radioecology and agroecology. The conference was dedicated to modern research in the field of genetic and radiation technologies in the agriculture. Conference participants shared their theoretical and hands-on knowledge, experience, novel techniques and approaches in the field of the development of genetic and radiation technologies in the agriculture. As part of the conference, a tour to the state museum of space technology history in Kaluga c. was given to participants.
