As part of the implementation of the national technical cooperation project of the IAEA, the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan has become the owner of a geophysical electromagnetic prospecting system for operation by the resistance method (ABEM Terrameter LS) from Guideline Geo (Sweden). Currently, it is one of the best electromagnetic prospecting tool that provides high-quality data and can be used in the detection of groundwater and mineral resources, geological mapping, and geotechnical research.
In May 2025, Harry Higgs, an application engineer from Guideline Geo, visited the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NNC RK) to set up equipment and train NNC RK specialists. During the training, Kazakhstani specialists attended lectures and gained practical experience working in the field with a geophysical electromagnetic prospecting system, including equipment diagnostics and office data processing.
