English advanced training course

Between June 7 and 18, 2021 and between July 7 and 19, 2021 a workshop was planned in the branch ‘Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology’ RSE NNC RK as a videoconference on the subject ‘Methods of written translation and consecutive interpretation based on texts in the field of radioecology and radiation safety’. Two staff members of the Training and Information Center of the Bureau of Scientific and Technical Information, Konstantin Tomilov and Vadim Kovtun will undergo training. The training program provides for theoretical and practical studies including short-term memory training and interpreter’s shorthand, lexical and grammatical transformations, translation of technical terms, translation by ear and many other exercises. During training attendees will gain necessary skills of consecutive interpretation and written translation, study features of technical translation, translation techniques and methods of consecutive interpretation, which will allow an adequate written translation and a choice of alternate translations, a pre-translation analysis of the text. An independent work and feedback are also an important aspect. The workshop consists of 20 class hours and 30 hours of a trainee’s independent work. The teacher checks knowledge gained, and at the end of the workshop, participants are issued certificates of a standard pattern.
