Scientific Visit of a Specialist from the IRBE NNC RK to National Biodosimetry Laboratories in the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China

Within the framework of the IAEA Technical Cooperation Project KAZ9018, “Development of Biological Dosimetry to Support Preparedness and Response to Radiological and Nuclear Emergencies,” Laura Kenzhina, Head of the Biodosimetry Research Laboratory of the Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology of the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan, undertook an expert scientific visit from 11 to 22 May 2026 to specialized institutions in the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China, where national biodosimetry laboratories operate.

Studying the experience of the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China is important for developing scientific, methodological, and laboratory support for radiation safety in Kazakhstan, as well as for adapting proven models of radiation risk management at the national and regional levels. The knowledge gained and professional contacts established will be used for the further development of the biodosimetry capacity of the IRBE NNC RK and Kazakhstan as a whole, the improvement of laboratory approaches, the training of specialists, and the strengthening of international cooperation.
