The training course ‘Nuclear and Radiological Emergency preparedness’

Between September 12 and 16, 2022 under the cooperation between the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (NNC RK) and the Japanese Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA), the online annual training course ‘Nuclear and Radiological Emergency preparedness’ was held. The purpose was to give attendees basic ideas of timely and efficient response measures in case of an a radiological emergency, improve their skills and teach public protection techniques. The course covers the following practical problems: restoring control over an emergency; preventing and mitigating adverse consequences for the public and the environment; avoiding overexposure of personnel who is involved in remediation. Two experts from Japan (staff members of JAEA’s Nuclear Human Resource Development Center), fifteen Kazakhstani experts (NNC RK staff) and sixteen attendees from among NNC RK employees participated in the course.
