On April 19 and 20, 2024, XIX International scientific conference ‘Lomonosov – 2024’ for students, Master students and young scientists was held by the Kazakhstani branch of the Lomonosov M. V. Moscow State University. The conference is an integral part of the International Youth Scientific Forum ‘Lomonosov – 2024’ held by the Moscow University and is dedicated to the role of fundamental science in the development of modern society. This year the International conference has been dedicated to the 270th anniversary of the Moscow University. 2 young scientists from the branch ‘Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology’ took part in the conference. Ms. K. Zhamaldinova presented a paper on the subject ‘Development of a procedure for determining the total alpha and beta activity in the water by liquid scintillation spectrometry’. Mr. А. Serik delivered a presentation on the subject ‘A study of the cytogenetic effects on wild plants growing at the Semipalatinsk Test Site’. The purpose of the conference is to encourage creative activities of students, Master students and young scientists as well as to involve them in research activities, solve relevant issues in the Kazakhstani modern society and foster strengthening of educational and scientific ties between Russia and Kazakhstan’s beginning researchers.
Following conference results, young scientists from the branch ‘IRSE’ were awarded certificates of merit.
