On May 23 and 24, 2019 there was the XIX International conference held in Belarus (Minsk city) entitled “2019 Sakharov readings: environmental problems of the XXI century”. The conference was attended by scientists and specialists from different countries of the world such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Poland, Germany, France, Belarus, Ukraine, the USA, Italy, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Tadzhikistan, Kyrgyztan. Timonova Lyubov, a staff member of the Department of Environmental Monitoring Systems Development, participated in the breakup group “Nuclear Technologies and Radiation Safety” on behalf of the “Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology” RSE NNC RK. Her report covered experimental findings on adaptation of methodological instrumentaiton to determine radioactive gases in RONA management and to assess radiation situation. In addition, two presentations were delivered by Institute staff members as part of the poster breakup group reports which were dedicated to addressing sources of tritium intake by the air basin the case of Semipalatinsk Test Site territory (STS) and biological monitoring of radiation hazardous sites at STS. As a whole, subject matters on global ecological risk, techniques of biomedical diagnostics, epidemiological and hygiene evaluation of human habitat, bioecology, bioindication, radiobiology, energy-efficient technologies, medicine physics and electronics were covered as part of the conference.
