Between August 10 and 13, 2020, VII. International conference ‘Terrestrial Radioisotopes in Environment’ on Environmental Protection (VII.TREICEP), was held in Veszprem city (Hungary) dealing with topical scientific problems related to terrestrial radioisotopes. The conference was attended by scientists and specialists from 20 countries of the world, such as Hungary, Austria, Lithuania, Japan, Vietnam, Morocco, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine and others. Participants delivered 73 presentations online.
VII.TREICEP participants provided results of scientific research in their presentations on techniques of assessing concentrations of radon isotopes; methods of determining the content of naturally occurring and artificial radionuclides in soil, water and building materials; the methodology of cytogenetic biological dosimetry for the population. IAEA’s technical support techniques were also provided in the field of environmental protection, radiological monitoring and evaluation.
Yuliya Baklanova (‘Research into 90Sr/137Cs and 239+240Pu/241Am ratios in fallout plumes of aboveground nuclear tests conducted at Semipalatinsk Test Site’, ‘Research into 90Sr/137Cs ratios in conventionally-backgound areas of Semipalatinsk Test Site’), Laura Kenzhina (‘Determination of a regional background frequency of stable translocations in residents of Semipalatinsk Region’), Nurlan Mukhamediyarov (‘Study of the content of chemical elements in bottom sediments of Uzynbulak creek of Semipalatinsk Test Site’) and Arai Temirzhanova (‘The content of rare-earth elements, thorium and other chemical elements in dust and aerosol deposition of populated localities (the case of Dolon vil.)’ participated in the conference online on behalf of the branch ‘Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology’ (IRSE) RSE NNC RK.
In the nomination of ‘The best presentation (young researchers)’, Yuliya Baklanova was noted. Articles of conference participants that qualified will be published in ‘Journal of Environmental Radioactivity’ indexed in Scopus scientometrical base (impact factor: 2.161).
