The 5th International Conference on Environmental Radioactivity was held in the Czech Republic – ENVIRA 2019

Between September 7 and 13, 2019 the 5^th International conference on environmental radioactivity – ENVIRA 2019 was held in the Czech Republic (Prague city). The conference was hosted by the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences and Czech Technical University in Prague in cooperation with the University of Comenius in Bratislava, European Academy of Sciences and Arts, International Union of Radioecology and Journal of Environmental Radioactivity. Issues of redistribution of natural and artificial radionuclides in the environment, radiation ecology, the effect of radionuclides produced by nuclear facilities and decommissioning on the environment, analytical methods of analysis and simulation of ecological processes were addressed on the agenda. The conference assembled scientists and specialists from different countries such gas Japan, Spain, Germany, Slovakia, Turkey, France, Norway, Hungary, Russia and others. The ‘Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology’ RSE NNC RK reported findings of research undertaken with financial support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan as part of the scientific grant АР05130568 ‘Research into redistribution of radionuclides in forest ecosystems long after nuclear tests conducted at Semipalatinsk Test Site’. Academic Secretary Natalya Larionova (grant manager) reported data on species composition and radionuclide contamination in mushrooms of the Near-Irtysh pine forest as well as results of the content of and nature of artificial radionuclides distribution in plants of steppe and forest ecosystems long after nuclear tests were conducted at Semipalatinsk Test Site.
