US Ambassador William H. Moser made a working visit to the city of Kurchatov

On the first day of his working visit to Kurchatov city, the ambassador from the USA William H. Mozer visited a complex of research reactors “Baikal-1” at which he was introduced to projects implemented as part of the Kazakh-American cooperation in the field of atomic energy development and solving issues of nuclear weapons non-proliferation. In particular, there were results given on implementation of a unique project on transportation and subsequent  storage of BN-350 spent nuclear fuel, physical security assurance at facilities. A talk about current operations on conversion of low-enriched fuel research reactors was given. Afterwards, during the “round-table” discussion American ambassador William H. Mozer highly appreciated outputs of the 25-year cooperation between the USA and Kazakhstani institutions in atomic energy development and solutions to non-proliferation issues, expressed his  confidence in further cooperation. On the second day of the visit, trips were planned to the “Experimental Field” and “Degelen” testing areas located at STS.
