XVIII youth workshop ‘Nuclear capacity of Kazakhstan’

On December 2, 2022, the annual XVIII youth workshop ‘Nuclear capacity of Kazakhstan’ was held in Astana c. arranged by the association the ‘Nuclear Society of Kazakhstan’. 6 focus areas were discussed at the workshop: staff training in the field of nuclear industry; radioecology and geophysics issues; the development of uranium mining industry; the operation of nuclear power plants; modern nuclear physics; problems in nuclear energy and nuclear physics. The workshop was attended by young specialists from nuclear science and industrial facilities of the Republic of Kazakhstan such as RSE NNC RK, ‘SGKhK’ Ltd, ‘Kyzylkum’ Ltd, ‘IVT’ Ltd, the Moscow center of the World Association of Organizations Operating Nuclear Power Plants (VAO AES), JSC national nuclear company ‘Kazatomprom’, JSC ‘UMZ’, the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU). In the course of the workshop, in  the focus area ‘radioecology and geophysics issues’, staff members of the branch IRSE RSE NNC RK, O.O. Marchenko and R.G. Yermakova delivered their presentations on the subjects ‘Trying out a procedure for the determination of tritium in environmental objects by means of an oxygen combustion vessel 1121 (BOMB PARR)’ and ‘Research into the vertical distribution of radionuclides including different 3Н forms in bottom sediments of water streams at the ‘Degelen’ site’. Workshop participants presented their papers on the work done, showed their outputs and shared the knowledge and experience gained.
