Between October 16 and 18, 2019 there was a coordination meeting held in Switzerland (Schwarzenburg) involving representatives from ALMERA network analytical laboratories. The event was held on the basis of the Institute of population protection from nuclear, biological and chemical threats and hazards (Spiez Laboratory) supported by IAEA. During the meeting, results of annual proficiency tests of laboratories were addressed. Issues arising from spectrometric measurements were addressed such as determination of activities of short-lived gamma-emitting radionuclides and the total alpha-beta activities of various environmental samples. As a result, meeting attendees made a list of necessary measures and a work plan for the next year. The event assembled over 80 scientists and specialists from 49 countries of the world. The engineer of the laboratory of nuclear and physical analysis methods F. Zhamaldinov participated in the meeting on behalf of the ‘Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology’ RSE NNC RK.
