The second scientific and technical workshop between the specialists of the National Nuclear Center of RK, Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corp. and Marubeni Utility Services was held in Japan

On November, 11- 14 2019 the second scientific and technical workshop between the specialists of the National Nuclear Center of RK, Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corp. and Marubeni Utility Services was held in Japan. At the workshop new trends in cooperation to solve technical and ecological issues, related to the consequences of the accident at Fukushima NPP were discussed. Currently available results are in demand for preparation of active phase of works on corium extraction from Fukushima NPP reactors and to improve safety of the reactors used. The first workshop was hosted by the National Nuclear Center in June, 2019. There the capabilities of experimental framework of the NNC RK were demonstrated to the Japanese specialists, and the areas of mutual interest for cooperation development were preliminarily defined. Branch «Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology» of the RSE NNC RK was represented at the workshop by the director of the branch, A.O. Aidarkhanov and head of the Laboratory for Experimental Studies of Transfer Mechanisms of the Department for Development of Environmental Monitoring Systems, A.K. Aidarkhanova. In the radioecological area, oral presentation «Comprehensive approach to research of the territories exposed to radioactive contamination as the result of anthropogenic impact» was made by A.O. Aidarkhanov, and – «-emitting radionuclides in water and methods of contaminated water treatment» presentation was made by A.K. Aidarkhanova. During the workshop the attendees visited Nippon Nuclear Development (NFD) plant of Toshiba’s affiliated company in Oarai town, Isogo Nuclear Engineering Center of Toshiba company in Yokohama, and Ukishima Engineering Laboratory in Kawasaki.
