Preparedness for nuclear and radiological accidents

November 25 through December 8, 2024 in Tokai city (Japan), the team leader of the commercial projects group of the IRBE branch of the NNC RK, Y.V. Baklanova, took a training course «Preparedness for nuclear and radiological accidents», which was organized by the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA). Qualified specialists from Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam also took part in the course.

During the training, topics such as the use of model calculations / prediction in the development of programs and evaluation of data for environmental monitoring, modeling the consequences of the release of radioactive substances in emergency situations at NPP were considered. Practical training included demonstrations of airborne gamma survey systems using unmanned aerial vehicles, accident modeling and calculations of protection against ionizing radiation and dose loads.
