IV Asian Congress on Radiation Research

August 16 through18, 2017 IV Asian Congress on Radiation Research took place in Astana city under the International EXPO – 2017 Exhibition. The Congress was attended by specialists both from Kazakhstan and those from 10 foreign countries (Japan, Russia, France, South Korea, China, Austria, Iran, India) as well as by representative of IAEA, the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, JSC “NAK Kazatomprom”. The most important achievements and tendencies in peaceful use of atom power, results of fundamental studies and new results in the field of radiobiology, radioecology and radiation safety were heard and discussed at the plenary and breakout sessions of the Congress . Problems of assessing radiation impact on environmental sites, effects of “low doses” of ionizing radiation, issues of changes in molecular genetics and their role in development of long-term exposure effects were addressed in breakup reports. Much attention was paid to discussion of epidemiological findings, reconstruction of individual doses received from internal and external exposure and organization of electronic databases for evaluating radiation risk. 21 specialists representing the branch “Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology” RSE NNC RK, participated in this Congress, of them 13 made oral and 8 poster presentations.
