III International Youth Conference «Genetic and Radiation Technologies in Agriculture»

From October 23 to 24, 2024, the III International Youth Conference “Genetic and Radiation Technologies in Agriculture” was held at the FSBI ‘Russia-wide Scientific Research Institute of Radiology and Agroecology of the National Research Center ‘Kurchatov Institute’ at the site of the Kurchatov Genomic Forum.

Within the conference, the workshop ‘Fundamental and applied aspects of radioecology and agroecology” was held, where topical issues of the influence of radiation factors on ecosystems and agriculture, methods of assessment and monitoring of radiation safety were discussed. On behalf of the branch ‘Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology’ of the RSE NNC RK, young scientists from the Department of Monitoring and Ecological and Analytical Research A.Nadeyeva speaking on ‘Reconnaissance survey of water resources to assess the impact of precipitation on their quality’ and A. Mulikova speaking on ‘Study of the chemical, epidemiological and radiation composition of waters of utilized water bodies at the Semipalatinsk test site area’. In addition to scientific presentations, the conference provided an opportunity to establish new contacts and an opportunity for fruitful cooperation.

The overall result of participation in the conference is not only new knowledge and ideas, but also inspiration for further scientific research. There are new challenges and opportunities ahead for applying the experience gained in practice.
