IX International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Topical issues in uranium industry’ held in Almaty

November 7 through 9, 2019 there was IX International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Topical issues in uranium industry’ held in Almaty. А. Shatrov, L. Kenzhina, P. Krivitsky, Zh. Tleukanova, M. Aktayev participated in conference proceedings on behalf of the branch IRSE NNC RK. The subject matter of the conference were topical issues in cost-effective use of resources and energy, application of digital technologies in atomic industry, resources and efficient technologies to manufacture rare, rare-earth metals and high-technology products, issues of enhancement and strengthening of the uranium mineral resources base as well as improvement of efficiency and intensification of uranium in-situ leaching technology. Individual attention was paid to legal, macroeconomic and educational aspects of atomic industry operation, to technologies and topical problems of pre-reactor nuclear fuel cycle. Presentations of staff members of the branch were delivered as part of the section ‘Safe operation of atomic enterprises and man-made waste management’ and included papers on biophysical and cytogenetic procedures in dosimetry, RONA control procedures in conditions of long-term storage, radiation monitoring of water bodies and deposits. The understanding of such important aspects as environmental protection and occupational safety of personnel forwards efficient decision-making and enhancement of occupational exposure control, dose monitoring and health maintenance in the future.
